My board-and-train student’s name is Farley. He’s an adorable miniature poodle puppy who demonstrates how he became brave and wore the Santa hat. Follow along to do the same with your doggo. Poodle Puppy Finds A Spooky Ghost Snake

Here’s a little spooky dog behavior adventure for the spooky season. This is Farley, a 3.5-month-old poodle puppy who graduated his board-and-train with a special bravery add-on. He stood his ground when he found a snake skin during our walk and fought the thing off. Notice the way he approaches and retreats, and how he stretches off his back-paw tippy toes to gain proximity, while he’s at the ready to rebound and bounce out of there if need be. That {Read More}

Lexi Comes For A Boarding Visit

Lexi is an adorable rescue dog who was adopted from a local animal shelter. She enrolled in board-and-train at Outsmarting Dogs a few months back, and occasionally boards with me when her parents take a trip. She hung out with me over the fourth of July weekend this year, and seeing her was such a pleasure. Lexi seems to be part golden beauty, part sporty girl, and a bunch of love packed into sleekness. Her tail wags regularly and she’s {Read More}

Baking Training Food From Canned Prescription Dog Food

I am training an adorable pooch who has a propensity to form struvite crystals. According to his veterinarian, the only food the dog is allowed to eat is corporately made canned or kibble prescription diets. In order to train this fellow humanely, I needed food that I can pass to him and that he can eat on the go. So I baked training food from the contents of the canned dog food as is shown in the following video. Basically, {Read More}

April Showers During Board-and-Train

We’re in the middle of spring and though it’s a little bit dry, we’re expecting April showers any day now. One of my board-and-train pooches, Lexi, is into all sports because she is likely mixed with a little bit sporting dog and a little bit hound dog. She loves water and she loves to chase birds as you’ll see in this video. She may not catch them, but that’s all right. It’s the sport that counts. Not all dogs are {Read More}

Recess During Board-and-Train

During puppy and dog board-and-train, pooches not only have daily lessons, but also have play time and recess. Dogs need mental and physical stimulation, time to explore and free time as much as people do. Here is a recent board-and-train puppy who is ridiculously cute! Rylo’s a mix of Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Poodle. In the video, he met a squirrel who gave him no respect, then he demonstrated the perfect zoomie method. I did think and hope all that {Read More}

Bulldog Pulls Funny Prank During Board-and-Train

Outsmarting Dogs puppy and dog board-and-training is open to most dogs who need behavior and manners training. All my enrollees bring with them their behavior repertoire, some of which I need to change into a different behavior, and their brilliant personalities, drives, and abilities. Sometimes people find me because they have a new dog of a similar breed they’d trained before, but their latest is more challenging. Even within the same litter, diversity of personalities can be vast. You never {Read More}

Natural Nose Worker

During play time during a puppy’s or dog’s board-and-train at Outsmarting Dogs, they show me what they like to do. Seymour the goldendoodle loves to play fetch, and he also has an excellent nose. Amazing Doodle that he is, he can find a ball without anyone telling him there is even a ball there. I suggested that his owners do nosework games with him when he went home. Enroll your dog in Outsmarting Dogs board-and-train for a home style training {Read More}

Recreation Time During Board And Train Dog Training

Dogs and puppies live and train with me during their board-and-trains. I treat them like they are my personal pets. I love getting to know them and finding their talents, their naughty behavior triggers, and how fast they learn. And whatever I learn, I share with their owners. Pups enjoy recreation time in the yard as much as I do. They love running and romping in my securely fenced, half acre. They hunt lizards, bark at tortoises, chase rabbits, play {Read More}
