Training dogs takes motivation, and I use motivation of the delicious kind – dog training food. Every dog who comes through the Outsmarting Dogs’ board-and-train dog training program here in Lee county learns to behave merely by being motivated by real food. Every single dog is motivated by food. If you have a picky eater, s/he still needs to eat, and will be motivated by the right food at the right time. That’s how the professional dog trainer of Outsmarting Dogs trains the desired behaviors during a dog’s board-and-train. I make most of the food I train dogs with. This includes easy peasies such as chicken breast, steak, and dog food roll, but also dog training fudges. Fudges such as pumpkin-peanut butter, turkey, sardine, and tuna. I also use ingredients to make dog training food for special dietary needs, such as the ingredients pictured here. I made a salmon fudge cake for a sensitive Miniature Poodle who came through the Outsmarting Dogs’ board-and-train dog training program. He loved it and worked happily during training sessions to earn his food.
Outsmarting Dogs bought a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for making dog training food. It’s a lot more efficient than using a fork to blend the ingredients. Here’s a video of my first batch. I made tuna fudge, and just as I have fun training dogs, I had fun learning to use the Kitchen Aid stand mixer.

Tuna Fudge
If you want to change the batch size, half, double or triple this recipe.
2 regular sized cans of tuna with the water (smash in bowl)
Add 4 eggs and blend together
Add 3.5 cups of flour and mix well
Spread mixture on a greased cookie sheet
Bake at 400 for about 25 minutes, or until done into a fudge consistency. Firm to the touch.
Let cool, cut up, and refrigerate or freeze.
